"Pin"spiration - Recycled Sweater Pillow Case

My "Pin"spirations are things I have found on or through Pinterest that inspired me to try something new, whether it's a new craft, a new project or a new recipe.

I have a sweater that I love, but it no longer loves me. It doesn't flatter me at all. But because of the color and the softness of it, I have been loathe to part with it. In comes Pinterest. I found a tutorial on making your own envelope pillow cases by Rae Gun Ramblings. This is not something new to me. I've made these before. But something about seeing the tutorial and thinking of the sweater all within the same 20 minutes brought this project together. (and that's why I call them "pin"spirations)

I had a large-ish 14 inch pillow form. Thankfully, the sweater was plenty big enough to cover it (part of the reason it wasn't very flattering on me - it was big).


One deep breath and a few stitched seams later, I had a pillow cover.


I didn't stop with just the one, though. I had a great bit of fabric I found in the remnants bin awhile back that I wanted to use to cover a larger 20 inch pillow form.


What an easy project...and I love love LOVE the dots! I've got some left over I'm thinking about covering a drum shade with...
